| What is .MODs in Memoriam? |
|
.MODs In Memoriam is a webpage dedicated to the best composers and .MOD tunes on the Commodore Amiga demo and music scene,
1988-1998. For those that didn't know, this scene was a worldwide, pre-Internet underground phenomenon in which people made and swapped
music .MODs and demo .EXEs with each other, either by floppy disc or BBSes. It was a truly special time. Here's some continuing picks for some of the best .MOD music
made back then..
.MODs In Memoriam is divided into 3 parts, each of which is updated separately and regularly - classic .MODs, ultra-rare/overlooked .MODs, and chip .MODs..
The tunes available on this site were all publically released to be freely redistributable, and are best played on a PC with WinAMP,
preferably with SurfSmurf's Oldsk00l .MOD plugin installed. Mac users have Macast (?), and Amiga people have DeliTracker.

| News |
05.09.04 - trying to get the site (and this sub-site) all under Creative Commons licenses before further updates - modsoulbrother will probably do better out of it, though.
22.03.03 - updates to this site coming soon - in the meantime we've started a sister site, .mod soul brother, to deal with the best and most overlooked .MOD artists on a person-by-person basis, with their complete .MOD catalogs available. We also now have a shared messageboard for comments/requests/feedback.
06.01.02 - delays get exponentially longer, but we're still around, with SLL/Kefrens and an infamous demo soundtrack (classic), Supernao+Azazel/TBL with a late-period gem (rare/overlooked), and Oxide/Sonik with the bestest pure-tone flava (chip)..
03.08.01 - woops, BIG delay but back with Svolkraq/Gollum's guitar lunacy (classic), NHP+BKH/Anarchy being enigmatic (rare/overlooked), and Monty/Analog not plumber-bound in the slightest, rather super-smart chip-py.. (chip)..
22.04.01 - finally back again, with classic .MOD synth-pop from Captain/Image (classic), Enya-twisting obscurity from Dreamer/Nah! (rare/overlooked), and Bass/TSL with some funky chippy flav, like.. (chip)..
19.02.01 - yoips, more .MOD goodness up the wazoo, avec Bruno/Scup's jazzy madness (classic), Nutcase/Balance blowing some underappreciated soul (rare/overlooked), and Hi-Lite/TRSI cracking us up all over again (chip)..
08.01.01 - new year, and a new update - Static/Rebels mashing it up in triplicate (classic), Scott/Spaceballs with a work of unfinished genius (rare/overlooked), and Random Voice with one of those perennial crack-tunes (chip)..
10.12.00 - normal updates continue with Jester/Sanity kicking it WOC-style (classic), 911/Rebels+Movement being awfully triphoppy (rare/overlooked), and Mel-O-Dee/DCS insisting we train or die.. (chip)..
10.12.00 - we launch a whole _new_ section, for complete .MOD-ographies, with complete entries from both h0l, aka Hollywood (ex.Jetset+Axis+Valhalla, this site maintainer!), and Subi, aka Subculture (ex.Desire+Axis and current Mono mainstay!) 20.11.00 - Shorty/Network with a sparkling early party-classic (classic), MadFreak/Anarchy launches an Enigma-inspired rarity (rare/overlooked), and TDK/Melon with a Russian delight.. (chip), ya + hoo + hoo..
03.11.00 - Jugi/Complex with a classic demo-tune (classic), Randall/Suburban Base with seminal early.MOD.junglistics (rare/overlooked), and Strobo/Stellar's sweet chip.melodies thrill (chip)
as we give you more, more, more..
20.10.00 - Frog/DOC goes _super_-oldskool (classic), Hein/Vision says it "Can't Be" (rare/overlooked), and 4-Mat shares with all (chip)
as we thankfully return..
11.10.00 - new Audiomonster (classic), Superted (rare/overlooked), and Nao (chip)
tracks to start off the new style with a bang..
11.10.00 - 'it's a brand new day' - completely new version of this site from subi+h0l..
