THE 'MODS ANTHOLOGY' INFORMATION-TEXT COLLECTION
[WHAT?]
In the days before the Internet, or at least before swift downloads were possible,
one of the best public domain .MOD-related archives available was the 4xCD
'MODs Anthology', compiled by Nicolas 'Gryzor'
Franck back in 1996. Nowadays, it's probably been superceded by collections
available online such as modland - and
it's VERY out of print, mail us if
you know where it can be bought online. But we found, in the course of compiling
this site, that although online collections have more complete .MODs than
'MODs Anthology', the info-files available on the CDs have a lot of information
that isn't available anywhere else. This is info about which Amiga productions
the .MOD was taken from, whether it was a cover-version of a tune by another
artist, whether it was entered in a music-competition at a demo-party, and
if so, where it placed, and so on and so forth.
This info is handily contained on a number of text-files, so, with profuse
thanks to Gryzor for doing the research, we present you copies of this info-text
collection that we found elsewhere online. Obviously, there will be .MODs
that Gryzor didn't have when compiling MODs Anthology, so all the info about
your favorite tunes may not be available. But if you're looking for info like
which Romeo Knight tune was used in the 'RSI Megademo', or exactly which .MOD
from Dizzy was used in issue #9 of the 'RAW' discmag, this may be the only
place online you can find out easily.
[INFO TEXTS?]
Here are the info texts as originally presented on the 'MODs Anthology CD'
- as mentioned, we're not hosting the .MODs exactly as contained on the CD
(since we're hoping to host better+more complete archives), but only the info
text, for the _very helpful_ supplemental background info contained on them:
Read the 'MODs Anthology' info-file for Authors
(A-F) here
(230k txt-file!)
Read the 'MODs Anthology' info-file for Authors (G-Q) here

If you do have any requests for items contained on the 'MODs Anthology' CD
listed here, particular the more obscure stuff like some of the very old Groups
.MODs (Wild Copper, Triangle, etc) that we may not get round to putting online
unless asked, then ask about it in our messageboard,
we may be able to help out.
