I liked this movie from the beginning. Stellar soundtrack, fairly good acting, good script, and interesting ideas. It was thoughtful (if a little pretentious), and vocalized (Even visualized) some interesting ideas that I have mulled over in the past. The cinematography was OK... about a 7/10 in this field. Does no one know how to hold a shot anymore? I also felt that the mother's character should have been fleshed out more. She seemed a bit stock. The little sister also could have been killed for all I cared. There was little to no point in her existence...
They should have eaten that little runt.
The whole part with the dance troupe made me sick. I also wanted to cry for the asian girl. This was not needed. Anyway... This movie is a solid:
8.2/10!
(Fun fact!: Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko) is Maggie Gyllenhaal's (Elizabeth Darko) younger brother in real life! They're both really hot!)
