Rain, hacking, sutra-ing, moving?

So, it's a rainy Saturday night, and I'm just recovering from watching Super Size Me, which has me drinking water and vowing never to eat at a fast food restaurant again. We move house in a couple of weeks, so moving box purchasing and half-hearted packing has begun, hurrah.

But what else is new in the land of drizzle and cardboard? Well, Gaming Hacks, my book for O'Reilly, is at the printers, and will be in stores in the next couple of weeks. There are a bunch of PDFs showing off the previously-mentioned diverse contributors to the book, and ONLamp.com just published another Michael Zenke hack as an excerpt, so... food for thought, huh?

Otherwise, I'd just like to say - editing Gamasutra is the best job I've ever had. I'm deliriously happy with this gig for a number of reasons. We have an increasingly relevant news section, with contributions by myself, our UK correspondent David Jenkins (Edge contributor and the new Teletext games editor), and now Andrew Wilson (ex-GameSpy news guy, and helping us out with news/analysis in tandem with his GameGossip link-and-quote work). Also, although I've previously mentioned it, having InsertCredit's Brandon Sheffield on hand to write great-quality interviews and other features (as a co-worker) is a massive boon. And our forthcoming features, the meat of the site, include postmortems for IGF entrants Star Chamber and Gish, plus the now fleshed-out return of the old Soapbox column exclusively on the website (look for specially commissioned illustrations from Erin Mehlos to run alongside them, too). Plus, there's much other specialness that I can't talk about yet. The point is, we want Gamasutra to be the flat-out best website for those in the business of games, and by golly, we're going to make it so. Just register and read along at home, huh?

Anyhow, that's enough delighted cooing for one evening. Now I need to go get rid off some of my extraneous personal possessions before this whole move thing happens - anyone want to buy a Sega Aero City, an Intellivision musical keyboard, a hacked 3Com Audrey? :)
